We do not take walk ins at this time. All of our artists are currently working on an appointment only basis. When they are in the shop, they are actively working with clients. Each artist handles their own booking. We ask that you reach out to who you are interested in working with and schedule an appointment or consultation prior to coming by the shop. We want all of our clients both present and future to have our full attention when we are with them.
We do not tattoo minors at Somewhere Good. You must be 18 years of age to be tattooed. A valid ID will be required at the time of your appointment. Accompanying children under 15 are not permitted in the shop. This is a courtesy to others in the shop being tattooed.
This varies from artist to artist so be sure to verify with your artist prior to your appointment. Cash is always preferred but most artists do accept card payment, you may be subject to an added transaction fee.
All of our artists handle their own booking, you will want to contact them directly. This can be done by, filling out an appointment request form on this site or the desired artist's page. It will be forwarded to their email. Each artist also has their email listed on their page, there are also booking instructions that can be found on their personal websites if listed, or on their Instagram bio.
Due to the nature of the weekly workflow, you may not hear back immediately. Each artist is different, some may check their emails daily, weekly, or monthly. Be sure to check Instagram for up to date notices regarding bookings for your desired artist.
Each artist sells their own individual gift cards, we do not sell “shop” gift cards. You will want to reach out to your desired artist directly to purchase.
The best way to make it through your session is to take care of yourself. You will want to be well rested, hydrated, and well fed prior to your appointment, so you show up feeling your best.
Light snacks and drinks are always available for clients at the shop. If you are going to be spending the day and are able, we recommend bringing some lunch or there are plenty of restaurants in the area for delivery.
Feel free to bring anything else you need to be comfortable during your appointment. Some people like to bring extra pillows, a book, headphones. Wear comfortable loose clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on… just in case.
If you are getting tattooed in an area that you will be exposed, some people like to bring bathing suits or other small garments that they are comfortable in that can easily be moved around or have the straps out of the way.
Your friend can definitely come help you get settled and see you off before your tattoo. Due to the various states of undress of our customers, we ask for no guests in the working area. There are a lot of wonderful shops and restaurants in our neighborhood to explore while you get tattooed.
Each artist may provide their preferred aftercare tips/ method so check with them before you leave your appointment.
In general we recommend a dry heal. Once you remove the wrap from your tattoo, it is important that you DO NOT re wrap it. At this point you will want to wash the area with warm water and a mild unscented soap. We typically recommend Dr. Bronner Baby soap. Let it dry completely. Keep the area clean and away from pets. We recommend sleeping in a clean, loose, long sleeved shirt or sweat shirt the first few nights. When showering, clean as you normally would, but refrain from prolonged water exposure. This helps for a more comfortable heal. Once your tattoo begins to flake, you can apply a light unscented lotion such as aveeno or lubriderm to the area. We do not recommend using any petroleum/ petrolatum based products, you want oxygen to reach your skin. Surface healing typically takes about a week or two depending on your skin. Internal healing and settling takes several weeks to months.
We recommend waiting about 2 weeks to go swimming after your tattoo. Once the tattoo has peeled completely and the wound has fully closed, it is safe to submerge it. It is typically recommended to wait until this time to use sunscreen as well. Think of your tattoo as a wound. Your skin will be a sensitive even after the surface healing is done, so it is recommended to be mindful of any sun exposure. The delicate new skin will easily burn.
